I got to play trucks at the Six South Street Hotel Friday. I felt like a little kid playing in a dirt pile!
There were 3 backhoes working diligently to get ready for the concrete truck that was on its way. Footings will be poured and the remaining wasted should be removed soon. I would bet that within two weeks we should start seeing some steel at our doorstep!
I also had the pleasure of attending the 5 Chamber reception. It's greast to see the surrounding communities working together to promore the region. This community GETS IT! We are proud to be here!

Our Neighbor Finds Gold
We are proud of our new neighbor Hannah Kearney for the remarkable accomplishment. See the story from WPXT below...........
Hannah Kearney, of Norwich, Vt., won the first gold medal for the United States Saturday night in moguls. She claimed this victory by speeding down the track in 27.86 seconds. She executed a successful back flip on her first jump and a helicopter on her second.
"I just think it's the most heartwarming story about an athlete who has given her all. Put in an incredible amount of effort," said Stewart Richards of Norwich, "Didn't succeed the first time around. But stuck with it and came back. It's just great."

This news brings joy to many in her hometown in southern Vermont.
"Just one of our proud accomplishments. So we claim her so we claim her. She claims us," said Charles Johnson of Thetford, Vt.
Many in Norwich are also excited that Kearney put this small town on the map for the rest of the world. And at a Citgo gas station in Norwich they found a way to show this Olympic medalist how much they care.
"We have a shirt inside that we're having all of our regular customers and anyone who wants to sign it sign," said James Roberts of Hartford, Vt., "And we're sending it to here and it's a Hannahowitz T-shirt and it says congratulations Hannah."
Most importantly for some in the town, is the example Kearney sets for others. This win comes after she failed to qualify for the final in the 2006 Turin Games.

Valet Parking Anyone?
What a great amenity on a day like yesterday when I visited Hanover. 10 degrees with 30 mile an hour gusts. I know I would gladly allow someone to warm up my car and bring it around to me. You can see our parking garage entrance right at the end of the building in this picture. There will be 30 under the Hotel.
I'm Sean....On the scene in Hanover

Ran Into a Brick Wall

No, it wasn't a brick wall. It was a concrete wall. And yes, the first few sections of foundation walls are poured. It is amazing to watch these pro's at work. They are working on a postage stamp lot and working wonders.
I talked with Sonya of True Value across the street at the Chamber function last night. She said that Opechee has been working very hard to keep all our neighbors happy. He is often seen sweeping the street himself. We hope to follow in suit as good neighbors.
