Mid February Opening????

Looks like we are on track for a mid February Opening.  We obviously need to pass all inspections, but the construction is moving along nicely.  On my visit on 12/15, I saw the rooms being "construction cleaned," which is a GREAT sign.

Its great when you actually see the color combinations and actual material used.  Its hard for me, who is just an operator, to envision from a swatch or picture.  But this place is a WOW!  Don Hartson the Director of Sales is busily showing people through the hotel.

Furniture is in a warehouse in NH and waiting for move in day.

Don, the GM has a full leadership team and they are busily interviewing folks to join our team. If you know of someone full of energy, loves to have fun and work hard, have them email apply on line at www.mchg.com or email Don at donald.bruce@sixsouth.com

Check out the lobby lights.  This is the kind of interesting contemporary look you can expect at SSS.

Thanks for following us on the Blog and FB. This has been an exciting journey.  But........ The Best Is Yet To Come!

Now that looks like a Hotel!

Sorry for the delay in updates!  I have been posting things regularly on the Six South Street Hotel Facebook Fan Page.

So what do you think?  The brick and stone work is almost complete and windows are in.  Sheet rock has begun, wiring and plumbing are quite far along.  The building is starting to look like a hotel!

On the operations side, Don has met with many areas businesses and lots of Dartmouth people.  The buzz out there is incredible.  The excitement is building for the Boutique Hotel. Sports tTeams are calling and graduation parents are anxiously awaiting the opening of our reservations department.

We are finalizing our reservation program and getting ready to go live.  We expect to open reservations in late October. However, those who have signed up on our email list at Six South Street Hotel will be notified with an email prior to anyone else. We will also post it on the Six South Street Facebook page.

Lots more to come!  We feel so welcomed by the Dartmouth Community!  Thank you!

A Room With A View In Downtowm Hanover

Just 2 blocks from Dartmouth

I had the pleasure of checking out the view from the top of Six South Street Hotel. For one, I had no idea how pretty it is with the hills and valleys.  Secondly, I was happy to see how pretty South Street has become.  Those involved in the development of it have much to be proud of!

Furniture has been ordered due to it'scustom design nature.  The concrete has been poured on all 4 floors as well as the parking garage. I'll keep you posted on further work.  For even more up to date info, visit us on Face book.  Hotel in Hanover

I'll explain more about our Geothermal Heating in a future Blog.  It will definitely be done in Layman's terms though.

The big hole and dirt pile is transforming into a Steel building.  As you can see, Six South Street Hotel is beginning to take shape.

This 4-story building with an underground parking garage, fits snugly on .4 acres.  If you drive by and look at the building from South Street, you will see the Valet parking area on the left.  Guests will enter the hotel there and the Valet Attendants can take your car into the garage at the other end of the building.

Wont it be nice to have your car warmed up for you on the cold days?

If you havent seen the building in a while, big changes are happening every day.

Never Steel

Your Mother may have said Never Steel.

Well, that's how I felt. I thought we'd never see Steel on  Six South Street. But, it's here. Undergrund parking is taking shape. We should see steel going up above ground soon.

Exciting to see "con"struction vs "de"struction.

Playing Trucks!

I got to play trucks at the Six South Street Hotel Friday.  I felt like a little kid playing in a dirt pile!

There were 3 backhoes working diligently to get ready for the concrete truck that was on its way.  Footings will be poured and the remaining wasted should be removed soon.  I would bet that within two weeks we should start seeing some steel at our doorstep!

I also had the pleasure of attending the  5 Chamber reception.  It's greast to see the surrounding communities working together to promore the region. This community GETS IT!  We are proud to be here!

Our Neighbor Finds Gold

We are proud of our new neighbor Hannah Kearney for the remarkable accomplishment.  See the story from WPXT below...........

Hannah Kearney, of Norwich, Vt., won the first gold medal for the United States Saturday night in moguls. She claimed this victory by speeding down the track in 27.86 seconds. She executed a successful back flip on her first jump and a helicopter on her second.

This news brings joy to many in her hometown in southern Vermont.

"Just one of our proud accomplishments. So we claim her so we claim her. She claims us," said Charles Johnson of Thetford, Vt.

Many in Norwich are also excited that Kearney put this small town on the map for the rest of the world. And at a Citgo gas station in Norwich they found a way to show this Olympic medalist how much they care.

"We have a shirt inside that we're having all of our regular customers and anyone who wants to sign it sign," said James Roberts of Hartford, Vt., "And we're sending it to here and it's a Hannahowitz T-shirt and it says congratulations Hannah."

Most importantly for some in the town, is the example Kearney sets for others. This win comes after she failed to qualify for the final in the 2006 Turin Games.

"I just think it's the most heartwarming story about an athlete who has given her all. Put in an incredible amount of effort," said Stewart Richards of Norwich, "Didn't succeed the first time around. But stuck with it and came back. It's just great."

Valet Parking Anyone?

Valet Parking Anyone?

What a great amenity on a day like yesterday when I visited Hanover. 10 degrees with 30 mile an hour gusts. I know I would gladly allow someone to warm up my car and bring it around to me. You can see our parking garage entrance right at the end of the building in this picture. There will be 30 under the Hotel.

Interior Design Takes Shape

Although not final, I wanted to share the inside design with our loyal followers on Face book and this Blog.
The reception area will have teak wood with an inlay of a white stone with directional lighting.
The Pod style desks will be Black Granite and Teak wood with recessed Frosted Glass and back lit lighting.
How cool is that. Stay tuned for more exciting news

Ran Into a Brick Wall

No, it wasn't a brick wall. It was a concrete wall. And yes, the first few sections of foundation walls are poured. It is amazing to watch these pro's at work. They are working on a postage stamp lot and working wonders.
I talked with Sonya of True Value across the street at the Chamber function last night. She said that Opechee has been working very hard to keep all our neighbors happy. He is often seen sweeping the street himself. We hope to follow in suit as good neighbors.
